PEERMADE DEVELOPMENT SOCIETY

PDS Organic spices is a unit of Peermade Development Society (PDS), a social service organisation of Catholic Diocese of Kanjirappally. Our focus is to promote cultivation, processing and marketing of world class quality organic spices to help marginal farmers to achieve sustainable livelihoods. We work with the small, marginal and tribal farmers spread across the Western Ghat region- the spices growing heartland- of Idukki, district in the state of Kerala, India. 

PDS Organic Spices aim to provide the world original Malabar Spices known for its rich flavor and aroma. This is made possible through the organic cultivation practices followed in harmony with the special climatic conditions prevailing in the growing area. We work with small, marginal and tribal farmers, spread across the Western Ghat region- the spices growing heartland- of Idukki, district in the state of Kerala, India.

We provide all possible assistance to follow organic farming, help in value addition and improvement in quality of the products, purchase the produce at a premium price from the farm gate, inspect and monitor the farming activities, process produces in our own facility and market it in international and domestic markets.

Inspection and certification of organic farms is conducted by Control Union Certifications India Pvt. Ltd.  Our products adhere to the organic standards of India, EU, USA, Japan, and Korea. We are also certified as per the Fairtrade standards by FLO-Cert. Some of our farmers are also practice Biodynamic farming and are certified by Demeter.

All our spices are processed in our own facility, located in Valanjanganam, Kuttikkanam, which is certified as per ISO 22000: 2005 FSMS and BRC “AA” standards. We also have a well established quality assurance laboratory to ensure that the products shipped out are in conformance with the specifications of the buyers.

Our well established farmer management system and extensive monitoring at all levels of production and processing help us to ensure transparency of operations and farm to fork traceability of the organic products.
