Lama Rice  Pvt. Ltd was established in the year 2009  with  the objective to protect the Indian traditional Basmati rice. The idea was conceived by  Mr.  Omar Saleh Babaker, Managing Director, SALEH .A. BABAKER SONS CO., Saudi Arabia. Mr. Saleh Omar Babaker, Director Lama Rice (P)  Ltd. Mr. Khalid Vohra Managing Director of Sai Shipping co. Mumbai and supporting along with Dr. Ajay  Sharma Managing Director a senior most professional of this industry started Lama Rice (P) Ltd.

The Aim  of the company is to facilitate the export of  basmati rice from India in branded  form. The company shall leverage on its core expertise and in depth knowledge of Basmati  rice  thereby acting as  the catalyst for the growing acceptance of  Basmati rice in the  world. The company has  built a strong, qualified, &  experience team of 43  professionals working all over Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh ,  Rajasthan  the leading basmati  producing areas.

The team is  headed by Dr. Ajay Sharma, Managing Director of the  company is a Basmati stalwart having invested over 42  years of experience in rice industry  specializing in strategic management,  brand building and end-to-end operations of large scale national  and international organizations. Regarded as India’s top professional in branding and marketing of Traditional Indian Basmati Rice. He has headed Nav Bharat Exports (Star trading house), BSRK Agro Pvt. Ltd (Star trading house), Kohinoor Foods(Star  trading house), REI Agro(Star trading house), Mr. Sharma has handled 200,000 MT or more business of  basmati rice (yearly basis) and exported basmati rice to Kingdom of Saudi Arabia , Jordan /Lebanon/Yemen/ Kuwait / Egypt / U.K./ Bahrain/ Canada /  Indonesia / Sweden/ U.A.E/ Australia.
